Vietnam speeds up ODA disbursement

VietNamNet Bridge Around US$1.438 billion of official development assistance (ODA) capital was disbursed in the first nine months of 2007, accounting for 76% of Vietnam's annual plan, reported Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh.

Of this number, loan capital is $1.242 billion and non-refundable aid is around $196 million.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the total ODA capital committed by donors through agreements in the nine months reached around $2.097 billion, including $1.968 billion of loans and $129 million of non-refundable aid.

Loan agreements signed this year are mainly for industrial, health, education, and environmental projects, especially projects of the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
