Booze sold to kids on street

SICKOS are turning a vile profit by peddling booze to under-agers on the streets.

And the practice is fuelling violence in one Greenock scheme.

Now calls for CCTV are being made and even for blocks to be bulldozed in a bid to solve the problem.

The issue is one of a number highlighted by the fed-up residents of Broomhill.

Inverclydes Deputy Provost, Charlie McCallum, said: There are unscrupulous individuals going about selling drink to under-agers. These arent stories, we know it is happening. The police are aware of it but they would need to be there 24 hours a day. Thats why we need cameras and proper surveillance.

The councillor said social problems are so bad, bulldozers should be sent in to flatten some parts of the area: I have made moves to get white street lighting and CCTV into the area, but we need a properly worked-out strategy.
