Restrictions reprieve for Cobar

All Macquarie Valley councils on level-3A water restrictions would be the fairest immediate solution, according to Cobar Shire mayor Lilliane Brady.

The move suggested by NSW water minister Phil Koperberg would mean that Dubbo residents would face the toughest restrictions in the citys history.

It would also be a welcome reprieve for Cobar residents who have been experiencing level-five restrictions.

Level-3A is certainly better than level-five, Cr Brady said. If everyone is on the same restrictions then we have all got water. Cobar spends millions of dollars in Dubbo and contributes a lot to Dubbos economy so we should not be forgotten.

Cr Brady said a lot of positive outcomes had come from being on level-five restrictions with long-term benefits.

When we went on level-five it made everybody more conscious of water, Cr Brady said.
