Housing snafu leaves group without a home

On Sept. 2, Tori Buerschaper, CSOM '09, Jessica Fernandez, A&S '09, and Alison Krustapentus, A&S '09, just wanted to move in - set up their bedrooms, situate the living room, stock their kitchen cabinets - that's all. A very simple request, really. But while the girls were at Target buying last-minute essentials, they received a call from a friend around 12:30 p.m.: Inspectors were in the house.

What transpired over the next two days can only be called one thing: a housing nightmare.

The three rushed back and spoke with the inspectors who, as they found out, were called anonymously. The inspectors deemed Buerschaper's bedroom and the living area uninhabitable. They cited the lack of a fire exit in Buerschaper's room as extremely dangerous.

"I thought the inspection was just a routine procedure and at first I had no worries of them being there." Krustapentus said.
